Fairfield, CA. June 4, 2009. Gentry’s revolutionary Eco-Hybrid flooring is an environmentally responsible product with a Green Story that is unrivaled in the industry.
Eco-Hybrid’s fundamental construction means that even parts of the tree that could not be used for any other traditionally manufactured hardwood floor, are used in the manufacture of Eco-Hybrid hardwood floors, very little goes to waste. First, Gentry starts its American species by hand selecting raw lumber from sustainable forests in the Appalachian region in the US and then - using the patent protected Eco-Hybrid technology produces a minimum of 3 times as much usable square footage than the traditional solids. Second, the finger jointed base uses pieces that cannot be used for face wear layer and in many case would be indiscriminately burned, thrown into a land fill or chopped up and made into a wood by-product. This base provides the dimensional stability that makes Eco-Hybrid the most versatile hardwood flooring available. Third, parts too small for the base layer are used to fuel our kiln chambers.
Then Gentry collects the considerable amount of sawdust created in the cutting of the face and base layer pieces and the ash from the kiln chambers. The sawdust is supply to local mushroom farmers to grow mushrooms, and then the sawdust will be use as biodegradable mulch for soil amendment. The ash is given to farmers for use as a fertilizer.
“There is so much to talk about with Eco-Hybrid that the Green Story sometimes doesn’t get the attention it deserves,” said Paul, the vice president of Gentry. “But this is a true Green Story that stands up to any other in the industry and is head and shoulders above any other company’s green movements. We could talk Green or be Green and Gentry has made the choice to be Green. And, all of the distributors we are working with agree.” he added.
