Eco-Hybrid solid hybrid is a solid hardwood floor that can be installed in almost any situation including on concrete slabs and over radiant heated sub-floors.
The patent-pending Eco-Hybrid, a solid hybrid hardwood flooring combines the durability of a thick hardwood wear layer similar to a traditional 3/4" solid hardwood floor and the dimensional stability characteristics of an engineered hardwood floor, making it the best choice for solutions to all homebuilders and flooring professional’s challenges.
Eco-Hybrid solid hybrid hardwood flooring is constructed in a balanced two-layer fashion that provides superior dimensional stability, it comprises two layers of hardwood materials. The 1/4" thick hardwood wear layer is fused to the modified hardwood base layer to form the Eco-Hybrid. The layers are aligned with the same parallel wood grain orientations.
The Eco-Hybrid top wear layer can be of any wood species, and it can be re-sanded and re-finished multiple times. The pre-finished top wear layer is coated with Gentry’s advanced Ceramic Oxide finishes, which comes with a 30 year warranty.
The base layer is a modified layer comprised of multiple hardwood solids strips fused together using finger-joint joinery for structural strength and dimensional stability. When subjected to moisture, these small pieces of hardwood strips will pull on each other in mulitple directions, resulting in a dimensionally stable base layer. The bottom surface of the base layer is coated with a urethane-based sealer for additional moisture protection.
The finger-jointed construction of the base layer and the solid hybrid formation of the Eco-Hybrid controls and minimizes the seasonal movements generally associated with real hardwood floors.
The dimensional stability of Eco-Hybrid hardwood flooring not only provides versatile installation capabilities, it also allows the manufacturer to make much wider and longer floor planks; up to 7 inches wide and 7 feet long.
Using the glue down application for 3/4" solid hardwood floors to concrete slabs is not recommended by the National Wood Floor Association (NWFA). However, FusionPlanks’ 3/4" X 7” X 7 foot solid hybrid hardwood floor planks have been glued down to concrete slabs in field-testing for more than 3 years with none of the problems associated with solid hardwood floors glued down on concrete slab installations.
Eco-Hybrid hardwood floor can be used in commercial or residential applications. When it is installed using nail-down method, it can be installed on grade or above grade, when using glue-down or floating method, this product can be installed above grade, on grade or below grade. Eco-Hybrid hardwood floor can also be installed over radiant heated sub-floors.
Eco-Hybrid hardwood floor planks come in 3/4' and 9/16" thicknesses with random length ranging from 1.5 feet to 7 feet with tongue & groove construction. Each plank is micro-beveled on all four sides. Eco-Hybrid solid hybrid flooring products are available in both pre-finished and un-finished hardwood floors with matching moldings.
The initial offering of Eco-Hybrid pre-finished hardwood flooring has over 100 options to satisfy the fashion and style tastes for the American public. Selections include seven wood species - Hickory, White Oak, Maple, Birch, Red Oak, Walnut and Cherry in four widths, 3 1/2", 5", 6" and 7", and it is available in 10 colors and four design styles - traditional smooth, wire-brushed, hand-scraped and the new hand scraped+wire brush combination.
Eco-Hybrid is a very environmentally friendly product. Eco-Hybrid earns its GREEN status by producing 3 or 4 times as many hardwood floor planks versus traditional 3/4" solid hardwood floors. Eco-Hybrid is an extra GREEN product since Gentry utilizes all of the sawmill leftovers and small branches as the source for manufacturing the small solid strips for the base layer of the solid hybrid planks. Eco-Hybrid solid hybrid is the best way to add more hardwood floors and yet minimize the impact on hardwood forests.
